Hi!
Thanks for the reply.
(1) If I was using WiFi, I'd definitly put signal boosters on both
ends, not just the server end.
(2) The robot would be intitialy controlled by me. However, after I
get that all working, I would add a GPS and a few sensors to have it
drive itself around.
(3) There are some other 2.4 ghz users, but they aren't nearby, so it
isn't a problem.
(4) The trees here aren't really big ones. There're basicly large
shrubs.
(5) To start, there wouldn't be any weapon. However, I may add one
later.
I like your idea about splitting up the communications channels. If it
seems like I can't get WiFi to work, I think I'll do that.
Just ask if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hello!
Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate it.
I'll try to answer all the questions.
(1) There is cellular service. However, it's way to expensive.
(2) I don't "need" to use WiFi, any thing that would work is fine.
(3) I'd be mostly driving down in sort of a valley. Sometimes there'd
be line of sight, but there might be trees in the way sometimes too.
(4) Would having one of these products below help: (signal boosters)
[link][link]
(5) I'd be sending one video stream from the robot, and sometimes an
audio stream from and to it. Also, a few other data feeds, such as
battery level, MPH. I think I'd need about 150kb/sec.
(6) There won't be anyother robots to interfere. (no tournaments or
anything)
(7) 900mhz with 115kb/sec might work. What product(s) would I use to
send the video and commands?
(8) I don't think I could get directional antennas to work.
Hope this helps. Any other questions, just ask.
Thanks!

Hi!
I didn't see about the where you live!
I live on a tropical island. I'd be building this robot (as a hobby)
to drive around on dirt roads, and patrol.
There would be some trees as interferance, but no buildings.
WiFi would be a lot easier to work with than some other type of
communication system. Do you think I could get it to work if I used
signal amplifiers?
Thanks!

Hello!
I'm trying to build a robot, and I'm working on the communications.
Here's the application: a 60 pound robot being driven around, the
farthest it would be away is around 1000 ft.
Here's my question. Will WiFi work? I'd be using 802.11g, and I think
I'd need extender antennas.
If you think it would work, what products would you reccomend, both for
the robot and the controlling computer.
Thanks in advance!

Win XP Pro SP2

The schools network is a Wireless G i believe, and downwards compatible

Which catches me though, is that this problem started AFTER i had

fine.
