Is is really necessary to buy the more expensive tapes for a miniDV
High Definition camcorder (I have a Canon XH-A1) rather than just
miniDV tapes? Quite a price difference, wondering if it is marketing
hype.  I know both DV and HD/HDV record to miniDV tapes, and at the
same data rate, so same storage requirements (~12GB/hour). But is
there something extra or special on the miniDV tapes advertised as
being for HD recording to justify their added cost?
