FCP 6 P2 Import dilemma
I'm kinda clutching at straws, but maybe someone can help... I have some video footage that was shot on a Panasonic HVX-202. The footage was copied to a portable HD which is now sitting in a folder on my MacPro HD. My dilemma is that I cannot seem to import these files into FCP 6. Looking at all the various tutorials on the net, the Import P2 option seems to be already there. Mine however is not. I've tried downloading the drivers off of the Panasonic site but still nothing. Is there something I'm missing? My current specs are: MacPro (Intel) Mac OS X 10.4.10 Final Cut Pro 6.0 Camera Panasonic HVX-202 (but we don't have the camera, as it was a rental) I would appreciate any info that anyone could give me as I'm at a dead end. Cheers, Marc marckatsam***@gmail.com wrote:

It should import very easily. Just grab a file and drop it in FCPs browser. Actually that's one of the big advances for FCS2. It allows you to drop nearly any format onto the timeline and use them same time. bill > > Marc No luck Bill. See this link. http://www.creativecow.net/articles/ross_shane/p2_workflow/index.html The other method is called flip mac. This will work for you. They mention that once you have your files on your HD, you should be able to import via the 'Panasonic P2' option. Which is the hurdle I cant get over. I've also tried installing the driver, but once its installed and I restart my machine, it doesnt show anything relating to it in FCP (at least nothing that I can find in the menu system). There is clearly 1 step I'm not doing correctly or somehting I'm not seeing. It all looks so straight forward! As for Flip Mac, this isn't really an option anymore considering how much it costs, when I can supposedly do it for free with FCP 6. marckatsam***@gmail.com wrote:

Make sure you have the correct versions and everything. You can pause and play while you do it. I can't tell you how many times I sat pulling my hair out when I continued to miss one step! Finally you'll see the p2 option in the import window. Good luck, > Do me a favor. Use the link again and do it step by step with the OK. The driver clearly doesnt work with FCP 6 and the 'new method' of Log and Transfer in FCP 6, doesnt seem to work either. I'm at a complete loss. I really do hope there is a fix for this... There is also other plugins like the one found here:

After installing the p2 cms app, I was finally able to see the movie files! Hooray!. But now I am unsure on what to do next... I tried to ingest, but all that seemed to to do was copy the files to a new destination. How do I get these files into FCP 6? Thanks, Marc On Aug 23, 3:34 am, tomas***@gmail.com wrote:
> IN FCP 6 you use the "Log & Transfer" window. P2 will not show...! I have a friend who is having the same problem. He is using a p2store, that his mac will reconize, but he is missing file>import>Panasonic P2. It's just not there! He is running FCP 6. I can't figure this out. Your not the only one out there Marc. Any help would be apprecated. C Farris I found the P2 import under the File>Log and Transfer>import p2 in FCP
6 not under the file>import>import p2 as it is in FCP 5. They moved it in FCP 6 to the new location.
