Using s-video

Hello,

I'm new to this group.

I'm interested in capturing my computer monitors images to my
camcorder (Sony DCR-TRV740).  I'm trying to create instructional
lessons of software applications and have seen this done by other
people.  I'm told alls it takes is using the s-video out from my
computers video card (128MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200) to the s-video
input on the camcorder.  The specs for the camcorder say that the s-
video connector is both in/out.  When I attach the s-video cable and
put the camcorder in camera mode, I only see the image from the lens
and not from the s-video cable

Is the s-video signal always present from the computer video card or
do I have to turn that on somehow?

Does the camcorder have to be told that the s-video signal is an input
or is this automatic?

Does anyone know how to make this work?

Please Help, thank you

If s-video connector in your camcorder can work in input mode as well, you
have to find and change that setting in the camera menu.

No, normally it's inactive. You should use nVidia configuration software to
make it active. That can be found in advanced display settings.

I don't think it's automatic, probably you have to activate it (change the
source) in menu.

Just put the can in "VCR" mode, not camera mode and it will work. It
will select the S-Video input automatically when a S-Video signal is
present.
