Sony A/V Connecting Cable for Audio Only, How?

Have a Sony TRV480 camcorder that comes with an A/V connecting cable.
Single prong input to Camcorder with Yellow, Red, White RCA connectors to a
VCR/TV device.  I want to record video with the Camcorder but use Audio from
another source, is this possible?  There is no separate microphone jack only
this single combined jack.

Do the obvious: plug the red and and white RCA plugs on the other end
of the cable into the other audio source.

  That would work, but I'm guessing that isn't what he meant to ask.
Since he mentions "no microphone jack", I think he wants to record
using the camera and input a diferent audio source. Since there isn't
a microphone jack, I don't think it is possible. But, he could record
the video and add in different audio later in editing.

Yeah, it looks like you're right.

Well, let the OP sort it out, since he knows what he meant and now has
two ideas to help him :-)
