TV to MiniDV tape?

Is there any way I can transfer something from my TiVo to a MiniDV tape
using the A/V cords that came with my camera? Or, is there any other
way I can get a clip of a TV show and put it on my computer so I can
edit it?

Plug the A/V cable into the camera and the TiVo, using Tivo's audio and
composite video outputs, or if it's available on your camcorder, use
the S-Video cable for a bit better image quality.

Set the camcorder to VCR record mode. Play the video on the TiVo, and
pause it at the beginning.

Start the camcorder recording and unpause the TiVo. Stop both when
finished.

This is all without doubt in the manuals of both devices.

Tivo Series 2 DVR with the Home Media option supports transfer of
recorded material to a networked computer.  Tools exist to convert
..tivo to whatever for editing.  Take a look here:

And both series 1 and 2 can be readily hacked to provide the ability to
transfer video.  I'm going to guess, however, that if the OP needs guidance
on doing an analog copy from tivo to miniDV, then hacking his Tivo box will
probably be beyond him.  However, the process isn't difficult and is well
documented.

I am surprised nobody has asked you which camera you have.

Many camcorders do not have inputs to record from an external source.

It's a Panasonic PV-GS31. And, my "tivo" is actually a TimeWarner DVR.
Sorry. Im an idiot.

I'll try the AV cords with the outlet thing.

Thanks so much.

Ok, so apparently I have a very basic camcorder. So, it doesn't allow
me to record in VCR mode.

However, I bought an S-video cord. Is there a way to take something
from the DVR with the S-video cord conneected to my Powerbook?

Is there software I need?
