Computer won't recognize Panasonic PV-GS400Any ideas how to get my computer to recognize my PV-GS400? I can't get
XP to recognize the camera though a firewire cable for passthrough and I can't get the camera to recognize analog input to record to mini-dv tapes (It just records a silent blue screen). I am ready to chuck the camera out the window. Panasonic tech support was useless. Any help would be greatly appreciated. russelllk***@gmail.com wrote:

I had the same issue with PVGS150 and I am guessing it will solve your problem too. I will do some research and send you a helpful link. If that does not help, let me know where you are and I will come and stand outside the window. :) DNA wrote:

loaded - so would think this would have been automatically included but I will try the "hotfix". If that doesn't work, come to Miami - I live on the 23rd floor so I'll have to try to throw it in your direction or we'll set up a net... Good luck. Let me know if that worked. It won't let me install the patch since I am not running SP1 but am up

Have you tried any other firewire devices to make sure that your port is working ok? 2. Did you put the camera in tape-playback mode before connecting it to the computer and powering it on? Something to browse: ( I have a feeling that the first one may be more helpful). http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t282199.html http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=106739&page=4 Thanks for your continued help/suggestions. I'll try testing the port
with another firewire device (though I think I recall trying it with a 4 pin to 6 pin into my laptop as well with the same result as with my desktop with the standard connector). I'll also look at the links. Bloch (Gino) letters617blochg3251 (replace the numbers by "at" and "dotcom") Hi,
I had trouble with my firewire card and both a Sony TRV320 and a NV GS400. The strange thing was that the card worked fine under windows 98 but when I went to XP (with exactly the same hardware) it would not connect to the ccmera most of the time. I purchased another generic (inexpensive) firewire card and both cameras are now detected perfectly ever time.
