Playing Video on Firewire

Rather than author a group of MPG files to DVD, I have decided to try to
play them from my laptop computer on my TV. The laptop has XP SP2 with
firewire. It is connected by firewire to my Canopus ADVC300. However, I
cannot figure out how to tell XP to send the video from Media Player
Classic to the firewire port. Can someone tell me how to do that? Thanks!

I don't believe that Media Player can do this.  Try Scenealyzer Live.

  You should have a DV Sink filter that was registered when your Firewire
interface was installed.  You could try adding that to Media Player Classic
as a preferred "External" filter, in the options.

  Otherwise you could run MPC, pause it, then run GraphEdit and
click on the "connect to a remote graph" ( under the "File" tab, or the
button that looks like GraphEdit's icon.)  Then just replace the
rendering filters with the "DV Mux" and Sink filters.

Luck;
