mini dv camcorder-won't play?
advance if it's not appropriate. Basically problem is -got canon mini dv mv5i out after months of it being idle. Refuses to play any tapes-from the button you depress to play-but will rewind and fast foward if you press those buttons. It appears to record because the counter seems to work however I can't check if it is recording. Desperate to sort it out as I want to film a nativity play tomorrow night! Thanks in advance. On 12/13/2006, mumdawn posted this:

A quick alternate test is to plug in the mains power and see if it works better. If that doesn't help, disconnect the mains power and the battery, wait 10 or 15 minutes, reconnect all, and try again. Sometimes that can reset the internal electronics. I'm not optimistic, but I hope I'm wrong. -- Gene E.
