Camera Comparison Sites

Hiya, all. I've been working on a project that I shot with a Sony
TRV-740. It doesn't look _bad_, and post-production tweaking with Adobe
Premiere helps things a bit. But it still looks very video-ey.

It seems to me that the biggest problem may be that many video cameras
have a much narrow dynamic range of color and luminance. More pro-level
equipment seems to be able to photograph a wider range, where the bright
areas don't just get blown-out to white and the darker areas don't get
cut-off to simple blacks.

Is there a camera review site that shows comparisons of the video images
that various camcorders capture? And if I go shopping for a new camera,
what technical stats should I be paying attention to as far as color and
light range go?
