Tool for Lossless MPEG2 I-Frame cutting and assembling?
Do you know any tool out there able to cut out and reassemble MPEG2 I-Frame videos? I guess the final file has to be re-indexed (i.e.timecodes recalculated), please confirm! Also, is there a tool out there to generate LTC track for an MPEG2 (preferably in WAV format)? Thanks so much. Bruno Bruno.Newsgro***@gmail.com wrote:

The "rec" in rec.video and rec.video.desktop is recreational. I can capture MPEG-2 as I frame only using a PCI card that uses a reference design that current cards going for <$100 are using. I have cut I frame only MPEG2 many times. A LTC isn't needed, but can be created with the proper tools. MPEG2 itself contains audio video frame synchronization data. I need some clarification: 1) could you please provide names of profesionnal broadcast tools to perform the task? 2) What tools did you personnaly use for cutting IFrame MPEG2? Any of them providing an API for automation? 3) I actually need to create the LTC for tape outs. Could you please give me some tool names to do that? 4) I know rec is for recreational, I have also posted in alt.multimedia.mpeg, do you suggest other more appropriate groups? ( A lot has changed in the last 14 years.) I personally use VideoReDo, as I mentioned, but it is not setup to allow outside development for such integration (API or not). [You could contact Dan at their forum on their web site] If you aren't really lost, you might check out "Cutterman" and MPEG I-Frame modifications. Otherwise we are talking high end "Prosumer" hardware assisted MPEG2 NLE setups, "DigiSuite" appears out of it, but Maxtrox has Axio, now. You might dig into the specs for Avid Liquid, and Sony's offerings, and there is always Adobe. 3) Check this out first: http://videoexpert.home.att.net/artic1/212smte.htm 4) There are several posters here that claim a much greater familiarity with the Pro newsgroups, perhaps they will chime in.
