Help with my Australian Television Set in London - Sounds doesnt work

Hi guys

Ive brought my aussie tv set over from london and can tune in channels
ok, however the sound doesnt work,  I understand this is because UK tv
uses PAL-I with a 6MHz
offset for the sound carrier, and  Australia uses PAL-B with only
5.5MHz offset.

Does anyone know if I can get a convertor or adaptor for this? Or what
about a freeview box, if I purchased one would that fix it?

THanks in advance.

Yes.

It's probably a software-based service adjustment on modern sets, or
something that could be tweaked by adjusting a trimmer with a
screwdriver. The problem is that this sort of information is hard to
come by unless you're a tv repair shop. (And even then, it might be that
the publicly available service manuals don't tell anything about this
sort of thing.)

A simple and readily available "convertor" is a VCR with a PAL-I tuner.
The tape transport does not even need to be in working order. Then
again, ...

....purchsing a DVB-T receiver, a.k.a. "Freeview box", would be a perfect
solution to the problem - considering that analogue broadcasts are going
to be switched off, anyway, so the VCR trick wouldn't work forever.

Does your Aussie TV set have a Scart connector on the back panel? If
not, what kind of inputs does it have?
