Camcorder as Webcam...

Heya all.
I've encountered a few problems when trying to use my camcorder (JVC
GR-D250) as a webcam via a Firewire port (in MSN).
It's not that it doesn't work as a webcam, it's just that it doesn't
work properly. The camera's functioning fine, the colours are correct
and everything, its just that when I actually try and use it in a video
conversation or to start sending my webcam the image it shows is zoomed
in, showing just a small area of what's actually on the camera screen.
Okay, so the strangest part of all this is that when I look at my
camcorder in 'Scanners and Cameras' or in the built-in 'Audio and Video
setup..' function of MSN, the screen size is normal and it shows
exactly what I see on the LCD screen of my camera, not just the small
zoomed in/cropped area.
Now, I know there's a lot of threads about this all over the internet,
as I've been reading as much as I can to try and find a solution,
however, they all talk about using programs, such as DVdriver, or
webcamDV as a bypass sort of funtion to solve this problem, and, I've
tried it. They both work, it's just that I'd rather not go about by
using another program to solve the problem, instead I'd rather figure
out why it's not working and see if there's any way to fix it...

Anyone got any ideas or know what's up?

Try switching it to DSC or similar - (zoom out) and then reconnect the
firewire with it powered up... I have a similar old JVC which I have had to
learn how to trick to work with audio & video - DV tapes don't work in it
anymore..
