Hi,

I have the following problem. I was rewinding the tape and suddenly the
machine broke down.
I can't take the tape out and when I try to turn on the camera it
doesn't respond at all.

I was wondering if it could be the fuse? A repair company are charging
me 50 pounds just to look at it...

Can anyone help before I send it off?

Thank you very much in advance

It could be a fuse.  I have a Sony that I managed to blow a fuse on.  But -
the fuses aren't the kind you might be used to!  They are most likely very
small surface mount fuses that are soldered onto the circuit board.  They
need to be removed by melting the solder.  You can test the fuse before
removing it but you have to find out where it is (and which one of
potentially many).

Taking camcorders apart is an adventure and not for the faint hearted.  The
50 quid to take a peek is quite reasonable given the complexity of the
technology.
