looking for recommendations on what video camera to get.
I have a budget of 1000 dollars, want a camcorder to shoot some short
films.
what is the best camera out there I can get with this budget?
i heard the pv-gs500 or the optura 600. any ideas?

There are lots of choices and they change by the week.  Go for a miniDV
camera with 3 CCDs, and as many manual controls available as you can
afford, especially focus. And get one with Firewire in/out and aux mic
in.
