Will it be possible to use the anamorphic lenses made by RUNCO(CineWide) and SIM2 with the HD DVD and Blu-Ray players? They seem to rely on the possibility of displaying the image from the Projector in the Compressed mode and letting the lens unsqueeze it rather than the projector's electronics? Will this be possuble with the new HD players? Somebody at www.projectorreviews.com indicated that the HD DVDs and Blu-Ray are encoded at 1280 x 780 rather than 1920x1080. Is this correct? HD formats are all 16:9, and to this point I've>mode? never heard of any sort of anamorphic compression being used. All the HD titles I have are square pixel -- even the 2.35:1 OAR titles. That might just be because they're from cable/satellite, but I don't think so (as I also have several 480p titles that *are* anamorphic). >Will [using anamorphic lenses] be possuble with the new HD players? Again, I doubt it. At least not for native HD material. I'd imagine ananamorphic lens will still be great for DVD-sourced material, though. >Somebody at www.projectorreviews.com indicated that the HD DVDs and I believe encoding at that resolution is possible, but everything I've>Blu-Ray are encoded at 1280 x 780 rather than 1920x1080. cine***@hotmail.com says... > Somebody at www.projectorreviews.com indicated that the HD DVDs and 1280x780? That seems oddball. The two HD formats are 1280x720 (usually > Blu-Ray are encoded at 1280 x 780 rather than 1920x1080. Most movies will probably be 1080i/p, but some video-based material (TV shows, sports, etc..) could be 720p if that is the original source format. -- If there is a no_junk in my address, please REMOVE it before replying!
