just bought a h96, i cant take still pictures while in while in the
video recorder mode? i get a error message saying cannot capture to
media card.  in camera mode it seems to work ok. the memory cars works
fine in camera mode, its a 2 gig card and new.
on my  low end panasonic gs -35  camcorder i could always shoot a still
to memory card when in video mode , is this camera defectice? i cant
imagine having to flip to camera mode when you want to take a still
shot.

I'm surprised that your older camera could take a memory-card still in
video mode. The three cameras that I've dealt with require you to use a
physical switch to go between the video and still modes.

One of those cameras (a Sony TRV-20) will capture a still photo to tape
(as a one or two second series of identical frames, IIRC), however,
while in the video mode.

I consider it very impolite to hijack a thread with an OT request for
(perhaps undeserved) help.
