Video editing -- color & contrast corrections

What (inexpensive) video editing programs allow you to adjust color,
brightness and contrast?   Is there a way to do that with Quick Time Pro?

It would seem that color, brightness and contrast adjustments would be basic
features in any editing program.  They are present in almost all still photo
editors.  The only difffernce is that, in a video editor, the user would
need to adjust a single frame, and then click a button to apply the same
adjustments to a selected range of frames.

Yes, you can do it in QuickTime Pro and most video editors.

Dave,

How do I adjust contrast, brightness and color with QuickTime Pro?    I
can't find it in the Help.  Under "Movie" => "Get Movie Properties" =>
"Video Track" => "Graphics Mode", I see several options (about which I have
not found any help in the Help file).  None of them seem to be basic
contrast, brightness & color adjustment.

You have to export as a QT movie. When you do, there will be an
'options" box which will lead you to a "Filters" menue.

Thanks, Dave.  It works, albeit a bit awkward with the tiny correction image
(QT 6.5.2).  But I get a lot of ugly grain artifacts in the corrected image.

Are there QT Pro alternatives that you would recommend, instead?

Not really, it's the old sttory "you don't get something for nothing".
The price you pay for boosting the gain is more grain. You could now
apply an additional filter to blur/smooth the clip, but the proce will
be a blurry image. There is no substitute for good imagery to start
with.

Actually, I should have described the artifact as "blotchy" rather than
"grainy"..   It appears to be some kind of color adjustment artifact.  I get
it even when color-correcting stills with Photoshop Elements.

But, whatever it is, your comment about blur/smooth still applies.

I think that I would like to find a video editor that allows this type of
correction using a image that is a bit larger than QT's icon-size image, and
which can apply corrections to segments of the video, during editing, rather
than as an aside during exporting.   Any suggestions?
