Sony TRV-50 and C:31:23 errors
I have a Sony TRV-50 and have for some time been getting C:31:23 errors, for some time it was intermitent and following the instructions in the manual seemed to clear it. But now no matter how many times I repeat the procedure I cannot clear the error. I am resigned to either sending it off for repair or replacing the unit with new camera. It seems the prices in the UK have come down a lot since I bought it an thus I am wondering if I should treat the camera as a lost cause and replace it. What sort of costs am I looking at for repairs? Thanks Andy On 4/17/2006, j***@andy-coleman.co.uk posted this:

One thing to try, if your model allows it, is to disconnect the regular battery and charger, and then remove and replace the coin cell that is used to hold the configuration memory (the 20 has it; don't know about the 50). Don't reinsert it right away, but wait a few minutes. In some camcorders it's a rechargeable battery. Perhps yours doesn't hold a charge any more. Oh yes - it's probably not a good idea to replace a rechargeable battery with a fixed battery... Gino -- Gene E. "S reel", I believe, stands for "supply reel" in technical tape deck jargon. (It's the reel from which tape is unwound when a cassette is being played back.) There's also the "T reel", which is the "takeup reel". -- znark
