Hooking up a TV Tuner

I have this card TV tuner hooked up to my vcr's video output. It seems
that I have to have the VCR on in order to watch TV. I have antenna
chosen and a composite cable going to the TV tuner cards viedo input. I
also have the RF output of the vcr going to the RF input of the Tuner.
any suggestions or needs? Thanks

Once the VCR is off, or when the VCR/TV switch on the VCR is set to
TV, then the signal should pass through via the RF out to the antenna
input of the tuner card.  So, make sure the connections are all
correct, e.g., the RF out from the VCR is to the card's antenna input.
Also, you may need to program the card to scan for channels so you can
use the card's tuner.

I guess it's worth mentioning that the VCR's RF output is likely to be
on channel 3 or 4 ...

Come to think of it, maybe I should point out that that means the OP
should tune his TV tuner card to channel 3 or 4 to see if he gets the
picture (Pun intended? No, but accepted anyway).

Thanks, Gary.

I should have read more carefully!

Thanks, I did do the autoscan in the antenna mode, which is coming from
my HDTV reciever to the RF of the VCR via a splitter. The splitter goes
to the regular TV input and the other goes to my Computers RF input. The
VCR's composite is going to the Computers TV card composite video. I do
not get anything on the vcr's chnl 3 or the TV tuner's chnl 3. All I get
is the blue screen. ..But once I change channels on my vcr then I see
them on the computers TV. So the vcr is controlling my Computers TV. So
all I am able to view is regular tv, I do not have cable. I will get
cable next week, then that will really create a mess.

Ah, I see, you didn't mention that you were feeding the VCR antenna in
with a HDTV receiver.  I assume that receiver's RF out is on a VHF
channel, probably ch. 2, 3 or 4.  Try setting the tuner card's tuner
to VHF channel 2, 3 or 4.  Make sure the VCR is off or the VCR TV/VCR
button is on TV.

When you get cable hook the cable up directly to the VCR's antenna in
and then rescan all the channels on both the VCR tuner and the card's
tuner.  Scan with the card's tuner with the VCR off or the VCR's
TV/VCR switch set to TV.  Set the VCR's and the card's tuner for
standard analog cable.  You should be able to tune in cable
nonscrambled analog stations on the VCR as well as the TV tuner card.

Keep the HDTV receiver hooked up to the VCR and/or the tuner card only
via A/V outs, not the RF out.
