Problem with JVC GR-AX980 Compact-C Camcorder
(a real show-stopper). Something happened to it...I know *not* what. My wife's relatives had the thing, and goodness knows what they did with it. Anyway... Something is blocking the lens and I get a "remove lens cap" message in the viewfinder. There is *no* lens cap, but something is blocking the darn lens internally. Anyone have any ideas what this might be and how I can fix it??? Can the lens be easily removed from this camera??? I got the camera for under $200 US, so I must *not* spend a lot to have the camera fixed. -- Show quoteHide quote+----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Charles and Francis Richmond richmond at plano dot net | +----------------------------------------------------------------+ On 2/13/2006, Charles Richmond managed to type:

I suspect that the problem is electronic, such as lack of video output from the detector fooling the camera into thinking the lenscap is on. It's even possible that the failure would have occurred even in your hands - in other words, a coincidence that it happened while your in-laws had it.. HTH, Gino -- Gene E. Bloch (Gino) letters617blochg3251 (replace the numbers by "at" and "dotcom") The problem is with the CCD in the camera. JVC's support website has a
page describing this problem. You must send it in and get it fixed. I believe this repair is no charge to you. I have been looking at a JVC model and it also has this problem.
