I've seen and used hardware methods, but never heard of
one that could be accomplished in software. It doesn't
seem possible from what I understand about Macrovision.

MCM electronics sells a video stabilizer pt. no. 80-4280 that
will remove all copyguards and is 19.99 plus shipping. I used it
and it works perfectly. Save yourself $120.00.

Have you tried that with a DVD-Recorder?  My guess is that it will only
work with a VHS recorder.

Hard to imagine how they could do a decent job for such a
low price. But worth a shot because it is so cheap.
