Hi.  I need to get >=0.5mb images from some old DVD movies.  I tried
some freeware programs, but the files come out around 50kb.  Can you
recommend a way to get larger files?  The 0.5mb requirement is a stupid
rule of the editor.  I don't care if the image is actually 0.5mb
quality, just that it's that big and looks alright.  Thanks for your
help.

Even DV video is only about 100kb for a single frame. DVD is compressed
even more, so there isn't any way to get more information than there
is. If your frame is too small, you can always scale it, but you can't
get information that isn't there.

I take back part of what I previously told you. I took a 50kb JPEG
opened it with GraphicsConverter and then saved it as a TIFF and the
image now takes up 0.98mb.
Even though there ia no added information, try saving a still in TIFF
format.
