Hi all;
I am in possesion of a 32 inch HP Pavillion TV (LC3200N). It does NOT
say it is "HD Ready", it says it is a HDTV.

However, I have analog cable, so, can I assume that I will never
recived HD programs as long as I have old-school cable? Would I need to
get digital cable to take advantage of HDTV programs?

What about one of those HD recievers? Woudl those help out any? I
figure that is a waste of money since I thought those were just for "HD
Ready" TVs...

Anyway, thanks in advance, sorry for the newbie questions. FWIW, my
DVDs on my progressive scan player look awesome (using component).

My HDTV receives a few of both HD and SD digital channels on my analog
cable, as well some audio-only channels, including an odd assortment of
semi-local FM stations. I also get some digital OTA channels, but
unfortunately, reception is poor here and I don't have a real antenna
for OTA.

The programming on the cable HD seems to be mostly samplers, rather
than real channels, but I haven't watched it all that much, and I
havn't found any guide info to tell me what's up. I also wonder if the
HD has gone away by now, a couple of weeks later, since I suspect it
was there by mistake (my cable provider was making some coverage
changes in the area at that time). I haven't had a lot of time to play
in the last couple of weeks :-(

BTW, the digital channel numbers on cable are totally weird, with no
connection to the analog versions of the channels, whereas the OTA
numbers are things like this: if channel 2 also has a digital channel,
it appears as 2.1, or if it has two digital channels, they show up as
2.1 and 2.2.

HTH,
Gino

thanks for the info... i have no idea what either of yall are talking
about... like i said, im pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff...

All I know is that on saturday, I was at my friends house who has
digitcal cable, and we watched the Auburn/Georgia game on espn,
broadcast in HD.. the reds on georgias uniforms were beautiful, and the
crowd was pretty much in 3-D.

I came home that night to finish watching the game on my "hdtv" and my
analog cable and it looked MUCH much worse than my friends. Clearly, it
was not in HD.
