Best Family Camcorder

I have a new baby and I am looking a new camcorder.

I have the Sony Handycam TRV-203, but it is starting to show its age.

I am looking for a camcorder that works in low light and a good battery
life. I am not worried about still shots, as I have a good digital
camera for that.

I want the ability to import to laptop, lite editing, and burn to DVD
for the Grandparents.

I have looked at the Optura 500 ,but was warned about strange button
placement not being comfortable.

I have also looke at the Sony DVD403 but was warned about the problems
of editing MPEG 2
video, especially using Premiere Elements which I use.

Can anyone suggest a good camcorder for this type of use.

Robert,

any good quality dv camcorder will do the job for you.Even the cheap sonys
~500 euro are excellent.You tell having old tapes, if they are 8mm you can
go for a digital 8.All good dv camcorders have firewire out and usb
streaming.
