Sony NP-QM91D Lithium-Ion Battery not taking a full charge anymore
Lithium-Ion Battery, and I can't seem to get it to take a full charge anymore. It used to go up to about 430 minutes and now I can't get it to go above 405 minutes -- and I'm even having trouble doing that. The FULL indicator will come on at about 355 minutes and I have to disconnect and reconnect the power cord several times to get it up to 405. To be fair, I've had the battery for about a year now. Do they just start to lose their OOMPH after awhile, or is something wrong? <David.H.Down***@comcast.net> wrote in message

My "71" version of this battery is similar, with lower figures, as you'd> I've got a Sony digital camcorder that I'm using with the Sony NP-QM91D > Lithium-Ion Battery, and I can't seem to get it to take a full charge > anymore. To be fair, I've had the battery for about a year now. Do they > just start to lose their OOMPH after awhile, or is something wrong? expect, but it was poor from new (see below). I've improved mine a bit by discharging it through two 22 ohm 10W resistors in parallel. (11 ohm is comparable to camera's load. They get quite hot.) Battery cuts out when voltage drops a little below 6V. Then recharge and repeat*. Funny thing in my case is that my 2 year old battery (without a charge oindicator) does much better than the newer one needing this treatment, which was bad from new and taken out of a sealed Sony blister pack. *If you Google for "Lithium ion batteries" or similar you'll find that Li-Ion degrades a little each time its charged. |
