Video cable length

Hi can you tell me roughly the maximum length of a cable carrying standard
video cable. I know it depends on the quality etc.but a rough guide would be
useful

I'm not sure what you mean by a "standard video cable."  I've made composite
cables out of coax and used them successfully at 100'.  I've also use 75'
s-video cables.

Using a standard professional BNC cable (one piece, no barrels), and a
standard definition analog NTSC signal, chroma will begin to drop off
at between 300'-500'.  Anything under 300' is usually considered no
problem.
