This non profit organization I volunteer to assist recently invested in
a refurbished UVW 1200 player. My task would be to transfer there old
Betacam sp tapes to computer. I was successful for the majority of tape
media transfere. However it's this last remaining batch -Sony
L750HG. When I play them I see only gray banding appearing on the
monitor screen. When I listen via the headphones it sounds like
accelerated garble. That indicates something is on the tape. If I put
in another Betacam sp from another collection it plays perfectly. I
could use expert insight into the procedure to adjust the UVW 1200
player so that it plays in a normal speed. If that's the problem?
I'm at a loss. I don't have a manual so accessing the menu or
adjusting the switches leaves me at a disadvantage. Thanks for your
attentions.

Chuck, an L-750 is a CONSUMER Beta tape, and will not play in your BetaCam
machine!!  It must be played back in a consumer Beta machine. Mystery
solved.

Thanks for the perfect info. I'll have to sell off the UVW1200.

What machine is capable of playing the comsumer beta tape, L-750. And
seeing that I need to play off (for duplication) a bunch of Beta SPs
what machine would play those larger media?  In my inexperience I
assumed the UVW1200 would play all betascams and BetaSP.s.

Thanks. And betainfoguide.com is fantastic. Great internet asset.
