How does flyback transformer get damaged?

I have a TV that makes a very high pitched noise, and I think from
reading other posts that one possibility could be the flyback
transformer.

How does the flyback transformer get damaged?  I turned up the volume
very loud to see how loud it could go - is that how I damaged the
sound?

Thanks, regards, dnw.

The flyback transformer provides high voltage to the CRT and has nothing to
do with volume.  It isn't damaged, or the TV wouldn't work.  Some TVs are
poorly designed and have noisy flyback transformers.  Sometimes, the flyback
transformer is poorly manufactured and not properly insulated.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Can an engineer reduce the high pitch noise by providing extra
insulation?

Regards, dnw.

Not really.   Some speak of superglue.

You can replace it, but the new one might be as bad :-(
