Sony Handycam Buzzing

I have a Sony Handycam for over a year.  Recently I have noticed that
there is a buzzing sound coming from it.  You can hear it when you are
taping and can hear it on the playback.  Anybody else experience this?
Any solutions to it?

I assume it's a miniDV machine.  The heads in miniDV cameras spin faster
than in analog machines, and the cameras themselves tend to be smaller.
I've noticed the sound even in my VX2000.  However, I've never had it be
picked up by the internal microphones (though I've heard reports of this for
other manufacturers' low-end camcorders).

There's nothing you can do about the sound.  If it's picked up by the mike,
try using an external mike.  You can also do some fairly amazing clean-up
with a good sound editor (I use Adobe Audition).

Thanks buddy.

What does a sound editor do-- clean up the sound once it is already
recorded?

Anyway to clean the heads?

Yup.  Audition is particularly nice because it has a feature that allows you
to map a section of silence to the noise filter.  The noise filter than uses
that section as a template to remove hiss, buzz and other background noise.

Why do you want to clean the heads?
