ATI RADEON DELL LATITUDE C610 PROBLEMS
I am having problems with my Laptop with TV Out (S-Video). When i play a video in windows media player the TV shows everything except the video itself, its just a black screen in the middle of a Windows Media Window. My Video Card is ATI Radeon Mobility (Dell) sorry i cant give more info as that is what it says in the Device Manager. I am running Windows XP Pro and if anyone can give me a program or tell me a way to fix it then PLZ HLP!!! TOM There is nothing wrong with your VGA card. Windows Media Player and many
other video playback modules use an area of VGA memory to "overlay" the video onto the desktop. The reason the area is black is because it really isn't there on the desktop at all. It is "overlayed" onto that black area from another part of VGA memory detached from the area of memory where the desktop proper exists. The S-Video output only shows the desktop proper. Adobe Premiere versions before Pro had a Print to Video function which uses the VGA screen itself for output. It also allowed you to choose full screen playback, which in video terms should be either 640x480 or at most 800x600 for good quality non-fuzzy playback. Which ever is closest to your original video resolution. Whether or not this function is still in Premiere Pro I don't know. I stopped using Premiere sometime during the 6.5 version. For using the function in Premiere I would suggest first changing the screen resolution to more closely match full screen (as per TV standards) playback. If your video is smaller than 640x480 or 720x480 using larger screen resolutions like 1024x768 or higher will show all the compression artifacting at an even greater degree than using the smaller listed resolutions. In addition, 720x480 video will look squished because the screen outputs square pixel and DV video is not square pixel.
