Internal Microphone noise
Has any had a problem with drum noise being picked up by the internal microphone on a Sony DCR-TRV340e camcorder? The camera has had little use - but the drum noise is getting to a stage where it overpowers the voices on the DVD.. any help / advice appreciated. John Adelaide, South Australia It's always a bad idea to use the internal microphone. I've seen very
few camcorders with even close to sufficient isolation between the mike and the camcorder body, and those were all big VHS camcorders with semi-shotgun mics sticking way out on the end of a 2 inch corrugated rubber support. Every MiniDV camcorder I've seen has the mics built right into the case. My old JVC sounds like a coffee grinder if you don't use an external mike, from the day I bought it. You'll also get a lot better sound with an external. "O" ring) mount which cures the problem. On the other hand, there's virtually no mechanical noise picked up when I use the internal microphones, just wind-noise if there's even a slight breeze. * http://www.keene.co.uk/pages/cat/04sou/04F.html
