Any loss in Pro DVcam to Digital8 transfer?

If you were to transfer a tape via Firewire from a Pro DVCam to a Digital8
or MiniDV, would it have any effect on the quality?

The idea being to transfer to the Digital8 cam, then to a computer h/d to
add some reverb to the sound, then reverse the process back to the original
DV cam gear. Should this cause any degradation in the video quality?

Thanks for all shared wisdom.

Why to the Mini DV first?   Why not direct to the computer?

In this case, it's primarily an issue of convenience. A lot easier to
transport and set up a camcorder than a computer. (I don't have a laptop)
Plus from the standpoint of practical knowledge, if it would work, it would
be good to know.

No, I don't have a DVcam deck. And when I got there, I realized that
bringing a computer would have been totally ludicrous. They don't have room
to sneeze in this place let alone set up another computer by the DVcam deck
and I don't own a laptop. Keep in mind, this was all sort of a quirky
happenstance. I got this Digital cam to use as an interface for transferring
8mm home movies, never had any thought of doing DVcam transfers. It just so
happened that just after I got it, my friend asked me to do this.

Used SP and everything worked great.  The final output tape looks identical
to the original one.
