Recording from Hi-8 Camcorder to MiniDV Camcorder

Hey all,

I have a recording on a Hi-8 tape and I want to transfer it to miniDV
(I have both Hi-8 and miniDV Camcorder). The MiniDV camcorder has a
S/AV Input ON and OFF option. I just want to double check if you can
plug in a S-Video cable into both camcorders, have the Hi-8 play the
video and the MiniDV camcorder record it when the S/AV Input option is
turned on.

I have never done this before but from what I read it can be done. Can
someone verify?
