My Camcorder is a JV GR D71 MiniDV and my computer is a AMD 64 Bit,
ASUS A8V Deluxe, with 02 Fire Wire and Win XP SP2. The problem is: my
computer is can downloading image by USB, but not throw fire wire. I am
using Imagemixer 1.7 to JVC camcorder. On the other hand, I can play
the tape into de camera conected in fire wire but no frame is captured
in any software to capture Digital Video (e.g. MoveMaker, WinDV,
Pinacle, Premiere Pro 1.5 or Premiere 6.5). Does anyone can help me?
I´ll be helpfull for any tip. (answer can be in portuguese or
spanish,too).

It it my understanding that image capture is normally by USB and not by
FireWire, so that is OK.

This is what I understand for video capture: From what you wrote above,
it sounds to me like you are using the camera controls to play the
video for capture. Perhaps it would work if you instead connect the
camera to the computer, turn it on in play mode, and use the controls
in the software (in other words, on the computer, not on the camera) to
control the camera.

Thank your attention.

In fact, may computer is able to capture DV at USB not at Fire Wire. I
start ImageMixer (Movie Maker, Premiere, too) and begin downloading by
USB with play mode on Camera, this is ok. When I change to fire wire
device and press the "start capture" no frames is captured, despite the
software start control camera (i´m not use controls camera in this
moment, just on computer software). Even so, no frame is captered, but
if I press "stop" button on software, the camera stop, too. I Tried an
another fire wire (6 x 4 and 4 x4) cable, but the problem wasn´t
solve. At the same time when I connected my camera at Sony VAIO
notebook,  capture video was ok (the OS was Win XP Professional SP2 as
I use in my computer).  Do you have an idea how to solve this problem?

I just looked at
http://www.1stline.com.br/conteudo/detalhes.asp?cod=4221 (I guess
you're in Bresil; that's OK, I can almost read Brasilian Portuguese).

I see nothing out of the ordinary there, no reason to suspect any
unusual configuration. so all I can suggest is that your hardware has a
problem. For example, a bad cable (I know you tried two different ones,
so that isn't too likely) or a bad FireWire adapter card.

Have you tried the camera on other computers? Have you tried other
cameras on your computer?

The only other thing I can think of is that you are somehow playing the
memory card and not the DV tape...is the manual for your camcorder
badly written? Many are, sadly...

I fear I have not helped at all - I am sorry.
