Hi.  I am trying to convert a homemade DVD a friend of mine made to
divx to play on my Archos Gmini 400.  I am pretty clueless about divx
conversion, but i used the default settings in a piece of software that
converts dvd to divx.  Here is where my problem lies..

there are strange visual deformaties in the converted video.  Someone
told me that they are called artifacts.  I want it where the video is
clear, and i'm sure that's possible.

Anyone have any tips on the following parameters:

  iDCT (Reference, MMX, SSE, FPU)

Resize (Nearest, Bilinear, Bicubic, Tap Bilinear, Tab Bicubic, Lanczos

Deinterlace (None, Even, Odd, Interpolate)

Can someone pick the best parameters from the quotes above, so my
converted video looks clear?  Also, I would appreciate any help on any
other tips you can give me.

thanx!
