Advice Please: Long Horizontal shots
for an increased horizontal range. Like wide angle, but up and down instead. Or do I just have to turn my existing video camera(with wide angle lens) 90 degrees on it's side in order to get the kind of range I need in the shot? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. Since wide angle lenses are for getting a more horizontal view into the picture, I wasn't sure if the common way of instead getting a more vertical view entailed turning the video camera on it's side. If there are lens available for this, I had never heard about it. Thanks. Darren Harris Staten Island, New York. On 27 May 2005 17:59:54 -0700, Search***@mail.con2.com wrote:

Maybe you're thinking of anamorphic lenses, which squash widescreen format on to normal format media. You then have to unsquash it when displaying. This was typically used to shoot widescreen movies on 35mm film. The projectionist had to install a special lens Sometimes he forgot :-) The same idea is sometimes used for video. Less now, as we have true widescreen format available. Google "anamorphic" for lots of info.
