hiya..

so now i m in the market for buying a new camcorder after some low-life
stole my dcrPC105 SONY matchbox model in london.. :(

prices have dropped DRAMATICALLY since i bought mine abt a yr n half
ago!  also some new features have popped up..

first question..

dvd Vs miniDV:
i am confused.. wat shud i get?  i know that miniDV is better for
editing and dvd for instant playback.  come to think of it i've never
really ever bothered to edit my videos, but still think that its a good
feature to have.  are the dvd camcorders any good?  seem a little too
restrictive.. i'll probably go w/the mini dv's

sony vs canon:

i m by far a sony freak.. everything i own is a sony.. but to my
dismay, i haevn't really found any models that really catch my
attention from sony's line up of camcorders this year.. has canon done
any better?

-can someone explain the new CMOS sensor technology and its advantages
for novices/pre-intermidiate users?
-also the whole deal with manual focus ring? whas so much better abt it
as opposed to the zoom button?
-what is an "intelligent accessory shoe" that sony talks abt?
-what about the new wide screen displays?  they talk abt a 16:9 ratio?
i not quite sure i understand its purpose?

so wat are your recommendations for good sony camcorders to buy?

wat are personal recommendations on the dcrHC40 from last yr? and if
comparing the dcrHC 40 vs dcrHC65 vs HC80 vs PC55 (the latest model)?

i'd love to hear someone talk abt pc55..

thanks for all the help..

You've asked too many questions for me to try to answer here, but I
will point out one thing.

Focus is not zoom. Zoom is not focus.

Do some reading, armed with that extra info...
