I hope someone can help with this. I want to record voice and video of
speakers at a conference, but I want to record also what they show on
an lcd screen, in sync with the other streams. I could point a camera
at the screen but I am lookling for better resolution, and an output
that compresses better.

I have no idea how to go about this, and any thoughts or ideas would be
appreciated.

I don't know if any of the material that the presenter is showing is
copywrited, but you should find that out first.  Next, ask the presenter
if you could have a copy of the presenation, as it will most likely be a
powerpoint presentation.  Then you would need to get permission to
retransmit and or alter as you would require.  I think this would beat a
technical solution and cover your butt at the same time.
