M2V to AVI

Pulled a boner tonight. Deleted a file before I should have.

16:9 DV-AVI.

I have an M2V transcode from the file (eg: the video only portion that I
need - the audio is seperate and I haven't deleted that)

I was GOING TO convert back to an AVI to put it back in the Encore project
but it seems Encore understands what an M2V file is.

Problem is, it gets the pixel aspect ratio wrong.

It should be 720x480 with a 1.2 pixel aspect ratio.
Instead, GSpot and Premiere report the M2V file (and AVI's converted with
WinAVI Video converter) as having a 0.9 pixel aspect ratio.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?
I don't need the audio - I've kept that as seperate multiple language
tracks.

I also have a DVD with the output video if I have to suck it down from that.
Whatever is quick and easy. (though I'm somewhat concerned this will be
neither)

(I did check videohelp.com - I'm still sifting through it ... some of their
data seems in error)

Have you tried "undeleting " that file.. It should still be there if you
havn't added any files since that delete episode. If you're in a windows
PCthen simply run undelete.

Naw, it was overwritten. (it was deleted 'cause the drive was quickly
filling up with captures and renders)

Thanks tho. Haven't found an easy out for this.

I know it's an extra step but can you pull it into Premiere and reset the
pixel aspect ratio?

Yeah, I tried that..
It'll import into Premiere BUT when I stretch it to fit the 16:9 aspect
ratio, it get hugely pixelated. (more so than I've ever seen in a previewed
file)

In fairness, I haven't output to a movie file, just previewed it. I'll
revisit that idea by doing just as you suggested and rendering the first 20
seconds or so to see if the output looks good.

Thanks for reminding me of that Tom.
