Removing the tape should prevent the camcorder from shutting off after 5
minutes or so.

You may also need to disable the "screensaver" mode in the menu options.

Thanks guys!  looks like it's fixed.

BTW, do you have any recos on good webcam software?  Something that I can
keep on for hours.  So far I've only tested with AOL and MSN IM.

I haven't used my camcorder as a webcam, but I like "Scenalyzer Live" for
both regular capturing and time lapse work.
