ADSL modem question (POTS version)

I have the Alcatel SpeedEasy Home (POTS version) and I am upgrading my
telephone line to ISDN.
Does the modem will work without any problem to the new ISDN line, or it can
be modified somehow from POTS to ISDN version?
Any help please......

No, Analogue Digital Subscriber Lines work on normal phone lines and at
present up to 2Mb, ISDN is pure digital and currently has a maximum of
128Kb. Some 16x slower.

If your modem can be upgraded by installing firmware, try to find it on the
Alcatel site. If you have nothing to loose with your modem, you can try to
find firmware for the Annex B version of your modem and load it. Some (maybe
many) POTS modems/routers accept firmware for the Annex B (ISDN) versions
and then work like a Annex B modem. No guarantees however...

If you have ADSL, why on earth are you getting ISDN ? (hell of a lot slower!)

I wonder why.... I thought it was faster! Perhaps I'll check for internet
via satellite. Thanks for the info.

ISDN is 128 Kb/s max.. ADSL is up to 3Mb/s in some places.. (even the lowest,
cheapest ADSL is 256 Kb/s)

Satelite would likely be a pricy option, and I don't know about where you are,
but a lot of places require a dialup uplink too (i.e download via sat, upload
via dialup). Also I doubt it would be too much faster than ISDN.
