well i have an intel server that i use an my home pc    its the se7500wv2
in sr1300 chasis

the problem is the internal video card realy sucks ...alot.  but i only
have 1 available pci slot that is elbowed so the card will fit in the 1u
chasis and theres no way a video card will fit so i was thinking maybe i
could run the computer without the lid but then thees the problem with
dust and what not   but what if i turned the computer upside down in my
rack with out the lid and have the video card just stick out a bit
would i have any problems with the drive or anything or would i need to
turn them around..

    thanks

o and any recomendations on a good pci video card

Running the server upside down should not present any problems, with the
possible exception of an optical drive.

Well for one thing the card might just decide to "fall out"
of the slot some day, especially if the weight of the cable
is pulling down on it.

Are you sure there is "no way" a card will fit?  Without
taking measurements (myself, pondering them- posting 'em
probably wouldn't help) it's hard to say but maybe a
different sized riser or one on a ribbon cable rather than
rigid fiberglass-only PCB might help?

I guess one thing I"m wondering is what was the point of the
"elbowed PCI" if a PCI card won't fit?
What do you need out of this card?  It's certainly not going
to be good for gaming anyway as a PCI card, so is there a
specific need it would address?

I'm tempted to suggest you use that system as a server or
sell it, and get something more accomodating instead.

I personaly would get a new case that has more room. Then strip everything
down, and re-install in to the new case. This may be a better option in the
end, because you will have more space, and better versatility.

well the pci slot can support a 32 bit half height pci card however i cant
find any video cards that size and even if i could i think that i could
perhaps find a much better full size card

selling it has always been on my mind but it seems like a "used" server is
worth next to nothing

im looking to have maybe 2 monitor extended desktop support as well as
maybe an s video out or something to hook it to my tv

it does also have a 64 bit full size slot but it seems like that is only
for server use as i cant find anything that i can use for that slot i also
dont believe that the slot can be dropped down     i put a firewire card
in there a while back and it didnt work

and as far as another case goes i dont really have any cash for that
and this board is a really weird size
