Watch out for COMPUSA!
external hard drive. The sale in the paper and on their web site said the sale was good thru 3/12 (today), Abruptly, on 3/10, they issued a new ad both places without the R320. In fact the latter is no offered at regular price. I called a store (far away) who told me they did not know what I was talking about. I emailed COMPUSA twice on the subject, but they choose not to answer. I searched for a phone number (other than a store) to no avail. Makes me wonder what would have happened if I had bought the thing. Cheers geezer wrote:

PC World (the UK equvalent to CompUSA in that they're about the same size and their practices are about as clear - can't think of another word) had a similar deal over here not so long ago (except I think the printer was a Canon i560). People queued clutching the advert they'd clipped from the paper, only for PCW to turn round and say they'd withdrawn the offer! They were forced to honour it when someone involved Trading Standards but, obviously, it didn't do anything for their - already poor - reputation.

I used to work at K-mart when I was in high
school. When there would be a misprint, the stores were notified and a notice was placed on the doors for the customers to see as they walked in. If it had been a misprint, the store should have known and simply told him that it was a misprint. -- Show quoteHide quoteWayne Morgan "Vanguard" <use_ReplyTo_header> wrote in message news:LZKdnSDwffop0q7fRVn-tg@comcast.com... > > Did you call the paper to find out if it was THEIR misprint? The price and the date was in print >(newspaper) AND ON THE INTERNET at www.compusa.com! > >Thanks went yesterday. Usually the sale runs from Sundays ad to the next weekend at the end of saturdays store hours. I went yesterday during the day hoping at the last minute to get the Maddog dvd burner as a back up --- they use NECs in their boxes and it was $49 after rebate a great deal for my region. I was hesitating but decided to go and sign up for a raincheck since they tend to sell out any decent sales item --- in two days or so. However they told me bacause they had a special sale on saturday which everyone knew about ---- they cut the usual sale period off early friday instead of the usual end of saturday deadline. If you had the printout and it really did say until saturday all you have to do is go down to the store and theyll sell you one. I went down when they had a price MISTAKE on the web site the Viewsonic for 100 bucks less than their sales price and they honored it and thats a RARE occurence since everyone has a disclaimer about price mistakes. You really cant hold them to it but they gave it to me and others anyway. Anyway this week is a special week --- they have some kind anniversary sale or something and had some great deals last weekend and all through the week and then added a different sale starting from 6 at night last night which was a rare madhouse in this region with lines down the block and a frenzied atmosphere inside like the old days a few years ago when everyone was doing crazy rebate deals all the time. Everyone was posting about it at some sites. They got some systems for dirt cheap , Seagate 160gig HD drives with 5 year warranty (I got one) for $39 which went real fast , G router for $7.99 etc I was only interested in the hard drive though.
