Cannot Set Boot.Ini Timeout to Zero

Last year, I asked on this forum how to remove the duel boot menu
startup from my computer, because I only have one OS on my hard drive.
I was advised to set my boot.ini file timeout to zero, which I did.

Last week, something changed my timeout value to "3." I have tried to
set it back to zero, using msconfig, but when I set the value to zero,
I get an error message that says, "Please enter a value between 3 and
999 seconds." So, now I have the boot menu for 4 seconds when I boot my
computer.

Is there a way to get rid of the boot menu?

Thank you.

system properties - advanced tab - startup and recovery button. Uncheck
display list of operating systems.

Not advisable. Better to click the Start button > Run 'msconfig' and then
click the boot.ini tab. Click the 'check all installations' button, and then
OK to remove the corrupt entry.

Please, I just advised it. If you only have one os it's perfectly fine.
Set your current os to the default and let it go.

Uncheck

Thank you. Your instructions took me generally where I needed to go,
though I could not follow them exactly. I had to go:

Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - System - Advanced Tab -
Startup and Recovery Setting button - uncheck "Time to display list of
operating systems"

That has set the boot.ini line back to zero.
