Odd CD drive problem
drive and with Win 2000 Pro as the OS. I've noticed that on more than one occasion the drive will not mechanically open unless I reboot the system, seemingly as if some system resource pool needs to be refreshed to allow mechanical access. I've had plenty of experience with the "heap" not returning RAM resources and causing *software* to become sluggish, requiring a reboot, on my old Win 98 system, but never a seemingly similar thing involving mechanical *hardware*. I realize there could be any number of variables involved, but my initial question is whether anyone has experienced anything remotely like this themselves so that I can try to fine-tune my query and my troubleshooting. TIA, JT

It does not always open the door the first time but after that the eject button works again on the front of the drive, with out having to reboot the system.
