I have win xp pri with sp2 Also Mcafee virus program installed Also I fixed my problem with the corrupt/missing error msg by installing the sata drivers for my motherboard.. no more error screen when I power up my system. My system always reboots itself everytime i power up my system.. It must reboot itself like 3 times b4 I can actually get into windows and sometimes when I am in windows, it will reboot itself there as well.. any ideas?? Thanks Mike -- mikeylbl mikeylbl wrote:

As you've been so vague, the best I can do is send you here http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm. There you will find troubleshooting info for many common - and not so common - Windows XP STOP errors. -- Facon - the artificial bacon bits you get in Pizza Hut for sprinkling on salads. Pity you didn't mention any of your hardware in a hardware newsgroup. For the OS you might try a WinXP related group, if none of the aforementioned things help. mikeylbl wrote:

It It could be a power issue, when your PSU isn't powerfull enough. Or you > must reboot itself like 3 times b4 I can actually get into windows and > sometimes when I am in windows, it will reboot itself there as well.. > could be suffering from blown capacitors on the systemboard. Also try a memorytest, bad memory can also cause reboots. Succes Chris It would help if, once you finally get booted, you would go to Control
Panel/System/Advanced and under Start Up and Recovery and remove the check, if there, from Automatically Restart checkbox. Now when XP wants to reboot because of an error, it will give you some indication of what caused it. That info MIGHT be helpful in determining what happened. Good luck. This way, you should get a screen telling
you the error codes if possible. Some common causes are a defective or undersized power supply, or there is a RAM that is failing. I have seen many other things also cause this, including a defective display card. The best way to fix this is to start with the error codes. Then there is the process of elimination. If you look in the event viewer, you may also get some hints to what is going on. -- Jerry G. ====== "mikeylbl" <mikeylbl.1l9***@news.computerbanter.com> wrote in message I am running Win XP Pro.
