Is it OK to have an AGP graphics card AND a PCI one?
one? I want to have 3 monitors. Will this arrangement cause any problems? Thanks. Power users (or anybody) with a lot of other bandwidth intensive PCI devices like video capture cards, gigabit NIC, Creative Labs' (et al) sound cards, or RAID/non-RAID drive controller cards may find there are times when there isn't enough breathing room on PCI bus, or they need to adjust the PCI latency... maybe not to get it to work at all, but drive throughput can go down and sounds could stutter, among other similar performance degradation per type of device. It's certainly do-able though, Microsoft (are you running windows?) has a dual display adapter hardware compatibility list somewhere on their website, though it was rather (VERY) old the last time i saw it. You can't just randomly pick two cards, or at least you could but it's not guaranteed to work, there is some kind of interaction between the driver and OS but I dont' recall what. ATI and nVidia cards made within the past 8 years are probably your best bet, leaning towards nVidia because ATI's drivers can be fickle, especially on some of their older PCI cards.
