Memory Problem
computer has suddenly crashed and will now refuse to boot (BSODs). It crashed at the precise moment I deleted a coded in WinXP so I thought it was the act of deleting the codec that caused the system to screw up so I attempted to restore from a Ghost image. However, each time I booted from the Ghost CD I would eventually just get a random blue screen. For example the last three I got were: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT UNKNOWN HARD ERROR (This seems pretty serious where a stop code can not even be retrieved!) MEMORY_MANAGEMENT I have now put my old memory back in and can run the Ghost boot disk just fine. This is just a bad memory issue? I have already RMA'd the memory but I thought I'd ask here in case I missed any other possible causes but it does seem pretty conclusive to me. Has anyone heard of Matrix memory before? Fortunately you have the Ghost image, as your OS was probably quite hosed and unrecoverable without so much work that you'd have been as well off starting clean, otherwise. Memory issues are many-fold. Could be the memory is defective, more likely marginal, possibly your board isn't so stable with 1GB modules, or multiple modules including double-sided, or that the bios simply needed slower (higher numbered) timings set to attain stability. In rarer cases I've even seen memory sold as PC(nnnn) but according to the chips on the modules (their spec sheets) it would've been impossible for the memory to be what the seller spec'd. They had a nifty generic label on it though, so it MUST be right?? Not. Matrix though? Never heard of 'em... suggest buying name-brand memory from someplace with a good return policy like Crucial.com, especially with larger modules. Newegg.com isn't too bad either and you might save a couple $$, but only if your board happened to run stabily with the lower-cost modules which aren't specifically guaranteed like Crucial's are (though Newegg will still accept returns, "usually" without a restocking fee on something like that but it's possible you might incur one? i bought my pc on the 8.1.2005 and two days ago the memory is low i can
hardly work on my pc can you advice me why this is happening and do i have any warrantys on this matter? also i lost harddrives and the system is pretty messy.can you help me over the net for above problems?
