Problems with my ATI-drivers for my Hercules Graphical card
drivers for my Hercules Graphical Card. This card uses an ATI-Radeon Chip (9500 series). I also installed all updates for Windows XP available up until now. However, I am now having problems with my ATI drivers. For every time I re-boot the PC I keep on getting the following error message: ATI's desktop manager is being unloaded because an ATI display driver is not currently running. If you have administrator privileges, click "Reset" to revert to the default display settings. Select "Cancel" to close this window with no changes. To permanently remove an installed ATI display driver, use the Add/Remove Programs control panel. I also recently have had difficulties with my flight simulator 2004 programme, as my system freezes as soon as I have loaded a new "flight" file (*.STN). I cannot escape from the impression that my graphical card is mal functioning due to the inactivity opf the ATI driver. But what causes the ATI driver to become inactive? I even re-installed the drivers for the graphical card but the error message mentioned above keeps on returning on reboot. Can anybody tell me what the problem is and how the problem has to be solved? Many thanks in advance. Charles J. van Doornewaard Amsterdam - The Netherlands.

Restart your system. Windows will detect the VGA card and ask for a driver. Install the DEFAULT Windows driver. When finished, install the latest ATI Catalyst software (you can download it from ATI's site) for Win 2000. This will replace the standard drivers by the ATI drivers. Check if it's ok in the advanced display properties, where you should now find the ATI tabs. Now Thank you very much. I followed your advice and got rid of this error
message. And what's more...Everythins has now been properly installed and Flight Simulator is now working again. Thanks.
